Carrom: what to know before playing

Choose a round of Carrom and settle into its rules. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Practice beyond the first move

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

What you are aiming for

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. The example below illustrates a decision.

Start here and follow along

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Input guidance

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Check any mode label before starting.

See the idea in action

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.

Where a round can go wrong

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. Compare the situation with the worked example. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
