An introduction to playing Dominoes

Dominoes gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Look at what changes after your first action. Begin with the local players mode shown on the page. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Something to practise

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Make the next step deliberately.

The goal to keep in mind

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Making your moves

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

An example before you play

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.

Keep this in mind

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
