Spider Solitaire: how a round works

Start Spider Solitaire by looking at the playing area and its controls. Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Look at what changes after your first action. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Two decks, one/two/four suits; fill every column before a ten-card stock deal. Free solo play, no wagering.

Take a closer look while playing

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Use the example to check your reasoning.

The objective of a round

Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. The example below illustrates a decision.

The playing sequence

  1. Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

Try this example

A mixed-suit descending stack cannot move as one group. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the controls nearby.

One detail worth checking

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Compare the situation with the worked example. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
